No need to call or reserve for weekly sessions. If coming for the first time, please click on "Beginning Meditation Practice".

Weekly sessions include:

  • A short talk on the core teachings of mindfulness meditation.
  • A period of guided meditation.
  • A short period of walking meditation or T'ai Chi warmups.
  • A period of silent meditation.
  • Sharing and discussion.
  • Private consultation on demand (Please reserve a consultation time when you come in, before the session begins).
  • And, sometimes also mindfulness songs and poetry.

Mindfulness practice is nourished by all these activities, by the support of others in the group, and by the inspiration of the teachings. With continued attendance your practice grows and bears fruit. A support group is essential for regular practice, and for making mindfulness a part of your life. Without a support group, you may find that within a short time, the practice has become a dim memory.

Meditation practice has many aspects. As the Buddhist sage Nagarjuna once remarked, "There is no wisdom without meditation, and no meditation without wisdom." This Catch-22 situation requires that both of these items progress together. The program for each evening is designed so that our practice can get deeper with time. There is a focus on a different aspect of the practice each week.

To get the most out of a session, walk or drive mindfully to the centre. Mindful walking is an excellent way to center oneself. You can count two or three steps for each inhalation and exhalation, and put all your attention on the walking and the breathing. Continue your mindful breathing as you come in and sit down.
